My God's Not Dead

Clara's friend Madilyn has a favorite song called "God's not Dead." So of course every time it comes on the radio or the computer Clara gets SUPER excited and yells, "Mamen's favorite song!!!" It's now a song we listen and dance to regularly in the front room of our house (otherwise known as the "dance room"). I told Jason we need to get strobe lights and black lights for all of our "Christian raves" we hold in there. HAHA!
Anyway, we listened to that song a lot on Easter (see video below). I've also been thinking how fitting the title is in this season of life. Their favorite part of the song is when it says:
"My God's not dead, He's surely alive. He's living on the inside, roaring like a lion."

The past couple months have been sort of a roller coaster ride. Last week we yet again got some "hard news." Jason and I sat across the kitchen table from each other with me sobbing like a little girl.
"Why is all of this happening?", I said. (Of course I wasn't expecting an answer).
After some time Jason asked me, "What do you think God wants us to get out of all this?"
I love that he asked this question. God has a purpose for everything, nothing is wasted. It really made me reflect on everything and only one thing stood out.

Through all the chaos, all the sadness, all the sickness, all the death, all the exhaustion, all the changes in friendships/relationships....GOD IS STILL GOD. And that's never going to change. And that's what I/we need to find comfort and hope in. Not in our circumstances. It instantly reminds me of the story in the Bible where Jesus and his disciples are out on a boat as a crazy storm hits. The disciples are FREAKING out, literal chaos surrounds them, and they "knew" they were gonna die. But the one thing that was still there? The one thing that wasn't shaken or moved or weakened or worried? Jesus. Through it all, He was there. And I can ALWAYS count on that. My God's not dead. He will ALWAYS be alive....just like "Mamen's song" says.
