Our first 5 and a half weeks as a family of four have flown by. We survived the first few weeks of sleepless nights and are now enjoying Ella sleeping longer stretches (thanks to the Swaddle Me and the swing). Hopefully it stays that way! The biggest adjustment is what I call the “baby marathon.” Except for a 1.5-2 hour break during naptime, if I’m lucky, it’s LITERALLY non stop taking-care-of-baby-mode from the time I wake up til the time we go to bed. I'm not joking, THERE IS NO OTHER BREAK. (And when I say “baby” I’m including Clara in that category). It’s amazing how one of them always manages to need something. Sometimes it’s hard not to be selfish and want to run and hide in a closet. HAHA! 2 under 2 is definitely challenging, but oddly enough, every night I look forward to doing it all over again the next day. Momma just needs a break sometimes! I also have to remember that this is only a season and one day I'll miss them clinging to me every second of the day. I've also managed to go on several outings with the both of them by myself, all which have gone very smoothly. I’m just amazed how much planning it takes to pull it off! Multi-tasking has been taken to a whole new level these days.
Clara is still adjusting pretty well and hasn’t really shown any jealousy. She definitely wants my attention but doesn’t seem to get upset with Ella if she’s not getting it. She is such a good big sister! Ella is smiling a ton and will “talk” to you. It melts my heart every time!
Jason has been able to work out more for the triathlon and is currently trying to defeat a family of wasps living in our backyard palm trees. He's determined to do this without professional help. Oh, engineers....
I'm hoping to open my Etsy shop soon and start taking a few orders here and there. I am missing it! I’m also planning to sign up for the “mini” Capital of Texas triathlon on Memorial Day with Jason. This is just a shorter version of Jason’s race.
Until then, we will continue persevering through the baby marathon. Let’s just hope we don’t hit the wall…
