Boats, Bellybutton and Boobs

This week Jason FINALLY achieved 2 out of 3 goals he's had for quite sometime. First, he sold one of his sailboats that he's had and been working on for over 3 years and then turned around and sold his 18 year old jet ski! We sure will miss Sea Princess (the jet ski's name due to her hot pink and purple stripes). With 2 water crafts down and one to go (the second sailboat), Jason is on his way to bigger and better things, a ski boat! At least that's what he's dreaming of now...

Clara continued to have several "firsts" this week. I took her to meet the Clear Creek Volleyball team and coaches and then we went to their first home game. Trying to expose her early. :) She officially now has a bellybutton since her stump fell off. We joke around that we are going to where it in a vile around our neck. HAHA. But seriously, I want to put it in her baby book and Jason is revolted by that. Now that I think about it, I think he might have secretly thrown it away! I'll have to ask him.... Clara also went to high school church for the first time last Sunday and then went on her first walk around the neighborhood last night followed by her first real bath. She was so good! She really seemed to like the water. I hope she stays this laid back!

I have learned about a million things in the past 2 weeks, but the one thing I thing I've probably learned the most about is in regards to breastfeeding. You take the classes and read the books but nothing or no one can REALLY prepare you for it. I'll never forget in our breastfeeding class the teacher saying, "now, it can be a little difficult at first, blah, blah, blah..." A little difficult!?!?!?! She happened to leave out that after you get home from the hospital is when the REAL pain sets in. Maybe she forgot to tell us that it hurts so bad at first that you bang your head against the head board of your bed and your toes curl up. "This is up there with labor pains!" I shouted a few times. Or that when your milk comes in the baby seems to completely forget everything she's learned, refuses to latch on and eat and screams constantly in frustration all while your trying not to burst into tears yourself. Oh, and that having any sort of clothing on your boobs makes them feel like they're on fire so you just need to walk around topless for 2 weeks in order to let the air "heal them." Let's just say that several family members and close friends have seen a lot more of me than they may have wanted when they come to visit. But although breastfeeding has been quite the....uh...adventure, we survived the first 2 weeks (which now I hear from lots of people is what you just have to get through) and absolutely love it. I'm sure Clara loves it too.... :)

We figured out how to upload from our camcorder so I've posted some videos as well

This is when she was just minutes old

Great Grandma Nana. I hope I look as good as her when I'm 78.

Every ache, pain and frustration when learning to breastfeed is worth it for moments like this. :)
